for Honest Event Rentals

For her

This was a full-service branded content video production from concept through delivery. We handled creative development, casting, production, editing, and post-production. From early conversations through several rounds of refinement, our role was to help shape the idea into something focused and achievable while keeping the original intent intact.

our involvement

Originally created as a Mother's Day piece for Honest Event Rentals, For Her is a quiet, intimate story about care, and how that care can shift over time.

The film follows a mother and daughter in the stillness of a reception space before guests arrive. Through small gestures (a hand fixing a veil, a seat being pulled out, a shared pause at the table), we wanted to capture something simple but deeply familiar: the way care can move between people without needing to be spoken.

The rentals and table settings were woven into the story as part of the environment, supporting the feeling of the piece rather than sitting at the center of it.

"Working with Dominique and Javier felt like a Hollywood dream. I came to them with nothing more than a collection of ideas and inspiration, and they transformed it into something even more beautiful than I could have imagined. They took care of every detail, allowing me to stay present and enjoy watching the vision come to life. I would work with Castillo Holliday Films again in a heartbeat and can't recommend them highly enough!"

CLIENT LOVE

This project went through several creative versions before landing where it did. Early concepts were much bigger in scale and narrative, but part of the process was figuring out what could be stripped away without losing the heart of the message. What remained was the strongest version of the idea: simple, focused, and emotionally direct.

Finding the Right Shape

This was a project we walked into with a clear plan. We had the shot list built ahead of time and knew exactly what moments mattered most: the wide establishing frame, the veil adjustment, the table interaction, and the final two-shot. That preparation gave us confidence on the day and allowed the production to move with intention instead of improvisation.

A Planned Shoot

Casting played a big role in getting this right. The client wanted the piece to reflect her Vietnamese background, so it was important that the talent felt aligned with that from the start. We found a cast that could carry the emotional weight of the piece while staying true to the cultural identity at the center of it.

Casting with Intention

Production was split between two teams: ours (camera, lighting, and sound) and the client's (building the tablescape, florals, and rental design). That collaboration mattered. It allowed every detail in the frame to feel intentional, with both the emotional story and the physical space being built side by side.

before

The visual approach for For Her leaned warm, soft, and natural. Shot on a Canon C300 Mark III with Arri Ultra Primes and a Soft/FX filter, the image carries a softness that helped the piece feel more intimate and lived-in. In post, the color grade stayed true to the space while carrying a slight warmth across the image, reinforcing the openness and familiarity of the story.

Warmth in the Frame

visual & sound choices

The piece was filmed at Lyman Estate, chosen for its open ballrooms, high ceilings, and strong natural light. While the location already brought a lot to the frame, the light was still carefully shaped to support the emotion of the scene. Most of it was built around the windows, letting the space feel natural and grounded, and in closer moments we added shaping to bring focus to the smaller gestures between mother and daughter.
